Here we go

Ok, it's time for Emelie to contribute with a little something too.
You'll have to excuse me if anything is spelled wrong, I don't have the same knowledge in the english language as Isabella do.
I hate to tell you that I have a lack of interest in the world of internet but I'll do my best to be a part of this blog.

Very well. I'm Emelie "the List maker" or the "quote poster". Today I thougt I should post the first quote and I know exactly which one.

It's simple but it's true, and it should give everyone a little bit of hope, no matter how down you are or even who you are.

Even the smallest person can change the course of the future...

I will say no more...

Howard Shore...the man, the myth, the legend

Ok, so you're probably thinking "who the f#*k is Howard Shore. " Well, all of us Lord of the Rings fans know that he is the genious that composed the music for the film trilogy. This very very talented man was obviously born with a gift. I will never forget the first time I saw The return of the King in the cinema and how the score made the hair on my arms stand up and I thaugt to myself "This is the best filmscore I have ever heard in my entire life." Now, four years later, there's only one movie soundtrack that has been able to push The Lord of the Rings down from the no 1 spot. Of course...Brokeback Mountain. The composer, Gustavo Santaolalla from Spain, is a God.

But never the less, there's no doubt that Howard Shore has created something spectacular and legendary. Every culture, every place and every charecter in the films has there own theme and they all move and seduce you with their beauty. One of my favourite scenes where his score truly shines is the lightening of the beacons. One of my favourite scenes in the trilogy. And it also happends to be Viggo Mortensens favescene as well. He has very good taste.

Here's the scene. And pump up the volume for this one.

Sex and the city the movie

I went to see it for the first time, yes I have seen it more then once, about a month ago with a friend of mine who is also a fan of the series. For some reason I felt a bit embarressed about it all. Despite being really excited as well. Why? Because there's all this hype around it, negative hype saying that unless you're a shoppoholic airhead who likes dirty oneliners then you're just not supposed to like it. I don't get it. The series was good! And I'm not saying that as a woman who happends to like fashion and the occasional girltalk session. I'm saying that as someone who appriciates a show with a great sence of humor, well written script, actors who make you forget that they're only acting and make you believe they actually are the roles that they're playing, an interesting story line and lot's of scenes that make you think "Aaah...oh yeah...been there done that. I know what she must be feeling now."

I just always thaugt it was honest, funny and entertaining. Even moving at times. Films or tv series about female friendships always push the right buttons with me. Anyway...I didn't expect the movie to be that good. I just couldn't imagine the show working on the big screen. There for I felt nervous and kept thinking about how embarassing it would be if they had spent all this money and energy on something that simply wasn't worth it. A failure. But I was surprised. It never tried to be anything that it wasn't. It didn't stray from the line the series had been following for years. A story about women, their love/sexlifes and their friendships with each other. And fashion. Of course.
Sure, there was some scenes that felt a bit silly and staged but in the end I liked it. And yes...I did cry. Like I said, there's just something about female friendships that get to me. And the scene when Carrie goes to see Miranda on new years eve got to me. It's one of those cliches that happends to be true. If you have a true friend then you have eveything you need. Sounds a bit naive considering the world we live in today, but I truly do believe that.

I've been thinking recently lately about how people can be so unbelieveably judgemental about films they haven't even seen. About 80% of the people I've talked to about this film and who said it's horrible haven't even seen it! Ok, obviously this is not a masterpiece and it's certainly not one of my favourite movies. But it always get's on my nerves when people do that. Not only when it comes to Sex and the city. There's loads of good examples. Brokeback Mountain probably being the best one.
I tell you...the day that people don't judge a film like Brokeback before seeing it...that's a good day.

daydreaming at work

Ok. Sitting at work during my break and hanging out in front of the computer. Suddenly remember...shit, we have a blog now. No one might have read anything yet... but still. I felt right away the urge to write something passionate about film. The first thing that came to mind was Kill Bill for some reason. Maybe because I was checking out clips from the film yesterday with Emelie, maybe because I often think about how fantasticly perfect every single frame in that film is.
Or maybe just simply because it's one of my favourite films and there's a scene in it that actually makes me think that violence can be beautiful. And I'm pretty much a peace loving hippie so that's saying a lot. In fact there are two scenes that make the hair on my arms stand up. Haven't figured out how to upload video clips on the blog yet (open to suggestions btw) so I'm just gonna put in the links.

Watch and enjoy!

The graceful faces of the swedes

Here we are by the way. And we know, you don't have to tell us. We're gorgeous.
Maybe in Emelie's case in need of some dental surgery. But hey who am I kidding, obviously I have a serious drinking problem.

Welcome all fellow moviegeeks...

...and we also welcome the ones that aren't...we also welcome the people who entered this blog curiously wondering who the f#*k the lords of the films are. Well...that's us. Emelie and Isabella, and today we decided to start a blog to share our obsession with the world. Sounds grand and dramatic but it was really an impulsive decision made while eating breakfeast in the garden outside my (isabellas) home in London suburb Turnpike Lane.
So who are we? What's our story?
Well, let's just say that if it wasn't for The Lord of the Rings this blog would not have been born. In fact, we probably wouldn't even be friends. You see we're quite different, Isabella being loud and opinionated with a little latinablood to boot...while blonde sweet Emelie tends to give a more calm and innocent impression. Don't let that fool you though. Just like our dear old Samwise Gamgi she is not to be messed with despite first impressions.

We met in Stockholm,Sweden, where we were both working as communicators (fancy name for the people that call you in the middle of dinner to see if you want to upgrade your internetconnection or buy a new phone...yeah we know it's horrible but hey at least we're not doing it anymore). We didn't exactly click right away since our personalities clashed a bit. In fact when I (Isabella) first sat down to talk to Emelie for the first time about something else then telephone equipment there was fear in her eyes when I plunged down in a chair next to her and cheerfully said hello. "Ok...pretty but socially retarded" Isabella thougt. "For fucks sake leave me alone" Emelie thougt.

Not the beginning of a beautiful friendship you might think. But then for some reason The Lord of the Rings came up and we suddenly looked at each other with delighted surprisement. "What!? You like Lord of the Rings?" "No. No I don't. I LOVE TheLord of the Rings."
It didn't take long before we realised that what we had in common was that we didn't just like the films like pretty much anyone else does...we were both, in an almost creepy psychotic way, absolutely obsessed with the entire world that Tolkien had created. This is not just a phase ladies and gentlemen. It's a f#*%ing lifestyle we kid you not. You can judge if you want to or you could join our little bubble of geekyness.

But don't think that this is just a blog about Lord of the Rings. This is also a blog about film. The most beautiful artform there is. And books of course. What would the world be with out books? Maybe some personal reflections here and there as well. We'll see. This is not planned, but damn we're excited.
To return to ou dramatic roots once again...Like Frodo and Sam we embark on this journey.

Hopefully you'll be part of the fellowship.
